Cambridge Fitness personal training

Carolyn Burke

I truly believe that anyone can have fun working out. Let me show you how. Weather you want to improve your general fitness, lose weight, or train for better function at a specific sport, I can help you meet your goals while enjoying the journey and feeling great about your achievements.

I am a big believer in technique. Proper biomechanics (the postures we hold as we’re moving through specific motions) are key for preventing injuries and developing efficiency. The only way to really develop fitness is through consistency, and having proper biomechanics means less time off due to pain or injury. Strengthening supporting muscles and antagonists properly is just as important. This type of injury prevention work is called "pre-habilitation."

Background

I am an endurance athlete true and true. I love running and swimming. I have competed in loads of races. I’ve done many triathlons up to a half ironman distance (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run), loads of running races up to a marathon (26.2 miles), but 5ks are my favourites. I’ve also done fun adventure races (one was over 6 hours in the Utah desert, one was an over nighter in Brazil). I am super competitive with myself, which means I’m always striving for improvements.

I also trained martial arts for 4 years and earned my second degree brown belt in Quantum Jujitsu.

I moved over here from San Diego, California in June 2009. I love Cambridge and being over here in England, exploring new runs and meeting great new people.

I have also been doing sports massage since 1997.
